Did You Know

Attitude variables, such as trust in major corporations, authoritarianism, internal locus of control, and many more, can signal which way a potential juror might lean when deciding on a verdict. The only way to find out what attitude variables might help or hurt your side of a case is to develop attitude profiles through pretrial research (focus groups and mock trials) then design voir dire questions to uncover those attitudes during jury selection. The variable might not look like it relates to your case, but the pre-trial research will tell you otherwise! The beauty of finding an attitude variable that separates plaintiff from defense jurors is that the other side does not know what the “right answer” is.
